It is through story and writing that everything begins. As a result, it is upon these two elements that filmmaking in Brittany must build a solid base. In particular, it does this by creating a context conducive to the birth and emergence of new scriptwriters and by privileging writers’ residencies all around the regional territory. In Brittany, residencies are open to foreigners.
For feature films, the Groupe Ouest in Plounéour-Trez (Finistère)
The Groupe Ouest is a space dedicated to the support of writers in residence and ongoing support in the development of scripts. Its support takes the form of an innovative approach, bringing assistance from the business world to story creation and development of film in Brittany. It is a leader in Europe for coaching screenwriters and the first and the foremost place in France for professional training of scriptwriters and filmmakers at the writing stage. In 14 years, more than 800 filmmakers from over fifty countries have been coached.
The Groupe Ouest is also the initator of LIM | Less is More, a european platform for the development of feature films on a limited budgets.
Supported by Creative Europe – the MEDIA programme of the European Union, LIM | Less is More is run by the Le Groupe Ouest (France), developped with Control N (Roumanie), Vlaams Audiovisueel Fund – VAF (Belgique), Krakow Festival Office – KBF (Pologne), and the Transilvania International Film Festival – TIFF (Romanina), in partnership with the Lithuanian Film Centre, the Norwegian Film Institute, the North Macedonian Film Agency, the Brittany Region, as well as Screen Scotland.
